Contrast and Usability
Due to the variety of factors that will affect how the users monitor displays the colors you choose in your design, it is extremely important to make sure that you select colors that contrast enough over a wide range of settings. Colors too close together may not contrast at all on somebody else's monitor, and may get lost on top of one another.
